Many framers mounting and framing techniques can actually be damaging to works of art. For example:
- Cutting a picture to ensure it fits a frame
- Permanently fixing by either dry-mounting or sticking down onto a rigid back board
- Use of cellotape and masking tape tapes to repair or support a picture.
